I‘m packing up the last of your nothings and sending them express back to you I’m making space in the back of the attic, there’s a hole that I think I fell through I hear the distant beat of drumming, it draws me like a funeral pyre I’m gathering up a pile of your nothings and going to get a match for the fire You said there was nothing come between us, nothing that had got in the way, But I heard that the wanker was in banking, and made about a thousand a day, It smells like a bushfire is coming, it’s telegraph all down the wire, I’m aching up the last of your nothings, and gonna get a match for the fire The lies, you keep, that send you off to sleep, You smile, disguise, pretend and you hide, You fake to feel, you think it’s real? I’m gonna let it all burn down I‘m packing up the last of your nothings and sending them express back to you I’m making space in the back of the attic, there’s a hole that I think I fell through I hear the distant beat of drumming, it draws me like a funeral pyre I’m gathering up a pile of your nothings and going to get a match for the fire The lies, you keep, that send you off to sleep, You smile, disguise, pretend and you hide, You fake to feel, you think it’s real? In the brightest of nights, lie down give in into the space, Let it drift away At the end of your time, come round, In the darkness of dawn we become what we once were before In an ocean of dreams, drown, trust the water’s and dive to another way Let the walls that you built, bow down, with a feeling that will never let you go, Fears ride high on the storm, shed the past and be more In the brightest of nights, lay blind, strip it down to the truth, strip it all away There is nothing to build, just find, in the darkness of space we can find out just how to be more The answer’s not, outside your window There’s no truth that will unlock the door Break down the walls that stand before you, and understand that there’s more, so much more In the brightest of nights, lie down give in into the space, let it drift away

Fallen love 05:17
Got me, climbing the walls Had me, never felt that before Got me, staying up late again Had me. wanting this never to end Middle of the night gotta go something else, you ought to know that's it, signed sealed delivered all I got everything given Got me, a fallen love Got me, smiling again Had me, more than a friend Got me, got me through the night Had me, feeling alright Loves nothing but trouble You, had me That's it signed sealed delivered all I got everything given Got me, Fallen love You had me fooled thought I had you understood Got me, staying up late again Had me, wishing this all would end Past the middle of the night, nowhere to go nothing left in this broken soul Got me, No no no Had me, Got me That's it signed sealed delivered all I I got everything given Got me, Got me had me Got me had me Got me had me

The sun is sinking down, it knows when it’s time to go, dig deeper underground, There’s seeing and believing and I believe in signs. It’s been coming for a long long time. Darkness opens to another day, the wave will fall, to wash our fears away. Let me hold your hand, We’re going to start something new Life has regrets, but life is for living let’s gamble on me and you right now The stars will spin around, and hearts will always look for home, the softly spoken sound, raised up with deeper feeling, been searching for a sign , it’s been coming for a long long time, darkness opens to a brighter day, the wave will fall, to wash our fears away. Let me hold your hand, We’re going to start something new Life has regrets, but life is for living let’s gamble on me and you right now Behind the sun there is no less love in his eyes, because it’s time for us to shine Let me hold your hand, We’re going to start something new Life has regrets, but life is for living let’s gamble on me and you right now

Come home 04:38
Sometimes, I really try not to cry at a broken world there's times, I wonder why goodbye is stolen Somewhere there's a lady Somewhere there's a man head in his hands Time, goes by still I cry at a cruel life may they lie, for all time deep inside our hearts Somewhere there's a lady lost her baby somewhere there's a man blood on his hands Come home Sign, of the times walk on by, the broken ones Time to give back compassion and love time to make it a better world Somewhere there's a lady (somewhere there's a lady) loves her baby, going home tonight Somewhere there's a man (somewhere there's a man) He's a lovin man (he's a lovin man) going home tonight Come home Come home Come home Come home

about

TONEAGE'S new album, “My Life”, is testament to the collective's determination to record original music and have their songs heard.
The album is an example of hard and trying times producing great music.
Toneage members come from the hills behind Lismore, Ballina and Casino.
In the past few years they have survived unemployment, drought, floods, bush fires, Covid19 restrictions and personal demons to release “My Life”, their second album.
Almost five years in the making, the album was recorded at songwriter and producer Christos Nicolaou’s Tone Temple studio, at Dorroughby.
It features the playing and singing of some of the region’s most highly regarded musicians.
“For many years in the Northern Rivers region there has been a shortage of venues showcasing original music,” Nicolaou said.
“Originally we formed the collective to address this problem and to provide a supportive environment in which to create and record.”
Nicolaou said recent natural disasters, capped off by the Covid 19 pandemic, made it even more challenging to finish the album. Basically no gig's, no income and definitely no Gov' support.
“They made it tough going at times, but they also provided plenty of material for great stories and songs,” he said.
The album’s eight tracks address themes ranging from loss, love and hope to some of the attractions which make the Northern Rivers region such a special place in which to live.
This album is structured to showcase the amazing vocal skills and classic keyboard playing Michael 'Whitey' White brings to the collective.
Toneage purposely kept the album short because with such a diverse range of song styles it made sense to focus this album on White's talents, with a couple of guest singers as well.
There is a powerful vocal delivered by popular local singer-songwriter John Gift on Track 4, “All burn down”, and a passionate vocal from the multi talented Dean Jones on Track 3, “Don't know me yet”. Jones also lends his bass playing skills on that track.
A few special guest musicians also feature on the album. Veren Grigirov plays violin on tracks 2, 3 and 6. Jeremy White plays 12-string acoustic guitar and classical guitar throughout the album. Alfie Z Massoud plays congas, bongos and djembe drums throughout the album and Michelle Fitness sings the chorus on the title track, “My life”.
The Toneage core artists are Christos Nicolaou (bass, guitar, vocals), Matt Brown (sax, guitar, keys, chimes, vocals), Pete Brentnall (drums, percussion, vocals), Stuart Kent (lead guitar, slide guitar, vocals) and Michael White (vocals, classic vintage keys, chimes),
Those of you who follow Toneage are probably wondering what happened to Smithy (Paul Smith). He is still a major part of the Toneage collective, which already has its third album half complete. It will be focused on Smith's vocal and so will be a bit more rock!
